The Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs battled it out in the divisional playoff round this past season, and now they will match up again for Week 1 of the 2021-2022 NFL season.
Week 1 Match-Up And Odds
How the Browns come out and play against the Chiefs in Game 1 will set the tone for their whole season. If they win, they can boast that they beat the Chiefs IN Kansas City, which is not an easy thing to do. Winning will also give them a step up in the rankings and could come in handy if they battle each other in the playoffs again.

Of course, all eyes will be on the quarterbacks. For the Chiefs, it is to see where Mahomes picks up after losing the Super Bowl. For the Browns, it is to see if Baker Mayfield will have another winning season.

The Rise Of The Browns
After beating their divisional rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, twice last season, including a playoff game, the team should be proud of what they accomplished. They made minimal changes in the offseason, hoping to bring back the chemistry from last year.
The offensive line should be one of the best in the NFL and with Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb returning, the Browns could be putting up an impressive run game.
Cleveland did boost their secondary by adding Josh Johnson and Troy Hill. Joining Myles Garret on the front line will be Jadeveon Clowney, which will make their defense even better.
Week 1 will be tough as they take on the Kansas City Chiefs, who made significant changes to their O-line after being dominated in the most recent Super Bowl. However, they are still the team to beat thanks to Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes and The Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have appeared in the last three AFC Championships and the last two Super Bowls, winning one. Love them or hate them, they are not only the team to beat in the AFC, but also the entire league. Many expect the Chiefs to head back to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row, with BetMGM having them as the favorites to win the Super Bowl at +500.
Mahomes returns to lead Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill. And even though there weren’t many roster changes for the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs sure put in a lot of work to upgrade their O-line.
Joe Thuney, Kyle Long, and Orlando Brown all have joined the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason. And rookies Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith are expected to be a big addition to the offensive line.
The Browns Season Outlook
If the sportsbooks are right and the Browns can’t handle the Chiefs in week 1, they can learn a lot from the game, but it won’t be a season killer. Especially since it isn’t a divisional game. With 17 games this season, every game is going to count. And the Browns are in a tough division. Three out of the four teams in the AFC North made it to the playoffs last year. So, games against the Steelers and Ravens are always tough. However, even the Bengals could be a threat this year if QB Joe Burrow can stay healthy.
As for the AFC North division odds, FanDuel has the Browns at +145 to win the division, with the Ravens ahead of them at +125 and the Steeelers behind them at +400.
