Cleveland Cavaliers And Caesars Sportsbook Reach Ohio Sports Betting Partnership

A retail sportsbook is coming to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse as part of a deal between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Caesars Sportsbook. The partnership was announced Thursday.

It is the third partnership the Cavaliers have reached in the mobile sports betting space. The Cavaliers also have deals with Fubo Sportsbook and Betway.

The newest deal for the Cavaliers makes Caesars Sportsbook an official sports betting partner, while Caesars Entertainment becomes the team’s official casino partner.

The sportsbook will be approximately 10,355 square feet and will be located on the street level inside the arena’s northwest atrium. That atrium is near the intersection of Huron Road and Ontario Street.

“We’re ready to welcome Ohio sports fans into the Caesars Sportsbook empire, while also making history with our second sportsbook at an NBA arena,” Chris Holdren, co-president of Caesars Digital said in a statement. “Building upon our already established roots with Scioto Downs in Columbus, we’re excited to announce our partnership with the Cavaliers.

“… This wide-ranging partnership enables us to connect with the Cavs’ passionate and highly engaged fanbase. Caesars Sportsbook at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will be a first-class venue providing an exciting atmosphere for sports betting and more.”

Caesars Adding Third In-Venue Sportsbook To Portfolio

The agreement with the Cavaliers expands on Caesars’ efforts to make in-person sports betting part of the event experience. Caesars opened a sportsbook at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. last May. It will also open a sportsbook at Chase Field in Phoenix through a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The sportsbook at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will include betting windows for cash wagering. It will be open year-round whether or not an event is taking place. Access will be available for event ticketholders as well as those wanting to place wagers.

Construction is slated to begin soon with an opening planned for late this year, subject to regulatory and other necessary approvals. The facility will combine custom VIP and hospitality experiences for Caesars Rewards members, along with on-site activations.

Caesars already has access to the mobile sports betting market when it launches later this year via Caesars Entertainment’s ownership of Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs Casino in Columbus, Ohio.

The deal with the Cavaliers also grants Caesars Sportsbook the use of the team’s logos and marks. Caesars will also have broadcast and digital content across the team’s properties along with TV-visible in-game signage.

Cavaliers Quick To Reach Partnership Deals

The Cleveland Cavaliers have wasted little time in reaching deals with sportsbooks. Its initial deal with Betway was reached in March 2021. That partnership includes broadcast-visible signage and commercial reads.

Betway also has a presence on the team’s digital and social channels in addition to other marketing assets.

Earlier this month, the Cavaliers announced a market access agreement with Fubo Gaming, enabling Fubo Sportsbook to enter the Ohio market. Fubo is an official mobile sports betting partner of the Cavaliers.

Unlike Caesars Sportsbook, Fubo’s 3,000-square-foot sports lounge in Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse won’t have an option for in-person wagering.
