What to Expect from InstaBet Sports Betting App in Ohio

Instabet is poised to enter the United States market with its sports betting app. Earlier this month the Mexico-based gaming operator applied for a mobile sports betting license in Ohio. Approval could come later this year, but the Instabet mobile sportsbook couldn’t be in your hands until 2023.

On Jan. 1, 2023, Ohio will become the 31st state with legal sports betting in some form. Folks in Ohio will be able to bet both at retail sportsbooks and online through mobile sportsbook apps.

Instabet Partnered With Pro Football Hall of Fame

InstaBet is based in Mexico City and is operating its sports betting app in its native country as well as in Europe. Instabet would be making its U.S. sports betting market debut if it is approved by the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

Under Ohio law, operators must have a deal with a license partner in the state. Instabet is teaming with HOF Village Newco, LLC, which owns and operates the Pro Football Hall of Fame, located in Canton. (Find the full list of applicants here)

According to the OCCC, applicants will be vetted this summer, and approvals could be announced as early as the fall of 2022. Most operators need a few weeks to get the infrastructure and platform in place for their sports betting app and their associated website. It’s unclear if the Pro Football Hall of Fame will have a retail sportsbook as well. It’s also uncertain whether the sportsbook would be branded Instabet or co-branded with the Hall of Fame in some way. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is the first major athletic hall of fame/museum to apply for a sports betting license in the U.S.

What We Know About InstaBet Sports Betting App

A distinguishing feature of Instabet sportsbooks that operate in Mexico and elsewhere is the “micro-betting” option. Micro-betting is the ability to wager in real-time on smaller parts of an event as it happens. For example, wagering on the outcome of a series of downs in an NFL game, on a quarter in the NBA, half-innings, or even certain plays in a baseball game. A bettor could potentially wager on the outcome of a power play in an NHL game they are watching.

Bettors in Ohio might expect the following features from InstaBet:

  • Micro-betting features you cannot find in other sportsbooks
  • Make your deposits via credit/debit card, bank transfer, or Paypal
  • Promos, bonuses, and offers to new registrants
  • Place parlay bets
  • Safe, easy ways to withdraw your winnings
